What a Google Business Profile Suspension Can Cost an HVAC Contractor

It's not quite Halloween yet, but this next story should freak out any business owner, no matter the time of year.

NW Mechanical of Woodinville, Washington - a business operating for more than 50 years - had their Google Business Profile removed from public view, then reinstated, then suspended, and finally reinstated once again, but with more than 100 reviews missing.

Luckily, it looks like all of the reviews have since been recovered. But as reported by ACHR News, NW Mechanical estimated that they lost between $300,000 and $500,000 in revenue, with monthly revenue falling 15% to 20% for six months.

What can you do to be prepared in case something like this happens to your business?

Having documentation ready to provide to Google - or to the marketing agency handling your Google Business Profile - is key. Save a folder containing:

  • Your contractor license
  • Photos of the exterior of your business
  • Photos of branded vehicles
  • Secretary of State incorporation paperwork
  • Utility bills
  • Bank statements
  • Tax documentation
  • Your EIN

Know where this folder is and keep it updated.

Also consider proactively providing this information to your marketing agency so they can respond quickly if the worst happens.
